Symphonic poem in one movement
Written in 1855-1857
Notes in the score state that the organ should be located in the back of the orchestra and when performed in a theater, if the orchestra is not onstage, the organ must be behind the curtain.
Additionally, wind players should observe a tacet at the organ's entrance on page 58, 9 measures after Rehearsal I. If there is no organ or harmonium available, the wind players should play the choral part here.
INSTRUMENTATION: 2 flutes, piccolo, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 4 horns, 3 trumpets, 3 trombones, tuba, timpani, percussion, organ, strings
